Checkmat is one of the world's oldest and best-known BJJ teams with offices in multiple countries and headquartered in California. Founded by Leo Vieira — 5th Dan BJJ Black Belt

The team's philosophy is reflected in the name, it is based on the perception of martial arts as a chess game.

Coach staff

  • Daud Adaev

    Training direction: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

    Daud stood at the origins of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Russia, was among the first to receive a black belt from the founder of the Chekmat team, Leo Viera, and is an iconic figure in the world of Russian BJJ. He, like no one else, knows how to convey the love of wrestling to anyone and create a unique friendly atmosphere in training.

    For 10 years of coaching experience, Daoud has developed a unique training program and has brought up several generations of winners of the European and World Championships. Daud in our team is responsible for the training program of children and adults, coaches himself, and also oversees the team's performance at competitions.

  • Alan Kankulov

    Training direction: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

    Current professional athlete, BJJ black belt, Checkmat team representative. Alan is one of the first students of Daud Adaev, as well as one of the first black belts that Daoud issued. He has over ten years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and five years of coaching.

    Alan conducts his training process in a very detailed and calm atmosphere, just as he conducts his own bouts on the tatami.

  • Mikhail Andreevsky

    Training direction: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

    Mikhail Andrievsky or, as many are accustomed to, Misha Black Santa. In his piggy bank is a black belt from Daud Adaev and a huge experience of working with children of all ages.

    Misha is one of the most positive and radiant mentors of our team, who has an amazing ability to find a common language with any ward. Also, one cannot fail to note his excellent musical taste! The musical accompaniment of his workouts will not leave anyone indifferent.

  • Vadim Khazov

    Training direction: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

    Vadim Khazov is a black belt of the Checkmat team, a veteran of martial arts. We will not list all the titles and titles of Vadim, the sheet is very long. Let's say one thing — Vadim has something to teach you. Many years of experience in coaching with children and adults, a large number of successful athletes among students.

  • Maxim Spezivtsev

    Training direction: Boxing

    CCM in boxing, got into the boxing gym for 4 years and has been living in boxing ever since. She has vast experience (over 8 years) with adults and children, pays great attention to the boxing school in her work, and is also an excellent coach in functional training.

  • Ruslan Arifulov

    Training direction: MMA

    The person who is responsible for mixed martial arts in our gym. Ruslan has more than 10 years of coaching experience, experience in MMA, hand-to-hand fighting, wrestling and boxing. He trained many times in Holland and Thailand. Ruslan is responsible for the MMA group with us, and also takes students for personal training.

  • Georgy Dyachkov

    Training direction: Functional Training

    Chief for functional training at our academy. Gosha has a level 2 certificate in CrossFit, as well as extensive experience in martial arts. He, like no one else, knows how to find an approach to each ward, which allows you to achieve the maximum result.
